You are trying to conceive? Avoid exposure to heavy metals!

Unfortunately heavy metals are everywhere. They are present in the food you eat, the air you breathe and the products you are using. Even a low level exposure can affect your cellular health and create hormonal imbalances and suppress your immune system. Exposure to heavy metals can result in impaired fertility in males and females.

Heavy metals in food matter. The most common and damaging heavy metals are arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury. Foods to avoid when you are trying to conceive are Tuna Sushi, seaweed, brown rice, nonorganic rice, excessive amount of chocolate…

Unfortunately all fishes are contaminated with mercury. So if you are trying to conceive you should generally cut down the consumption of fish and especially those which are particularly high in mercury… Tuna, swordfish, king mackerel…. Small fishes like anchovies and sardines have less mercury.

Brown rice is frequently contaminated with arsenic more than white rice. Rice takes up arsenic from soil and water and stores it in the outside layer. The best is to take choose white rice with an authentic organic label.

Even the so called healthy veggies can store heavy metals, as cadmium. Plants which tend to accumulate high amounts of cadmium are spinach cabbage, eggplant, potatoes, and peas, corn, cacao plant…. The accumulation of cadmium by certain plants depend on the quality and the PH of the soil where they grow. That’s why it is recommended to choose certified Organic foods.

Other sources of heavy metals are batteries, amalgam fillings, sometimes hair dye and cosmetic articles.
